Fibromyalgia Resources

 

This section of my website deals with information regarding fibromyalgia, an illness I have had since 1991 and have had my ups and downs with throughout the year. One section of my blog will deal with how fibromyalgia affects my life, the resources and tools I use to cope with it and some hope for those who are having a hard time coping with the pain and fatigue that faces us every day.

 

There are a few books that I recommend for people with fibromyalgia. A simple no nonsense book comes from the Dummies series of books called Fibromyalgia for Dummies The book is well organized and very straight forward. It's the kind of book you can have your family, friends and co-workers read to help them understand what fibromyalgia is and how it affects your life.

 

The doctor I see for fibromyalgia, Dr. Don Goldenberg, has a pretty comprehensive book called Fibromyalgia: A Leading Expert's Guide to Understanding and Getting Relief from the Pain That Won't Go Away. I strongly recommend Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain: A Survival Manual (2nd Edition) by Devin Starlanyl as an effective book on coping and learning to live a better life with fibromyalgia.

 

If you are looking for books on diet and nutrition and fibromyalgia there are 2 I recommend by Mary Moeller. They are Fibromyalgia Cookbook: A Daily Guide To Becoming Healthy Again and The Fibromyalgia Nutrition Guide: Contains Valuable Dietary Guidelines, Recipes, and More for Overcoming Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Sydrome

 

My favorite site is Our FMS/CFIDS World. Their site is loaded with articles on fibromyalgia, disability issues, brochures & handouts, a message board and a list of good doctors by state. The fibromyalgia page on WebMD also has a message board that is moderated. I have found helpful information when it comes to new medications and new treatments.
